IT Sysadmin and Security Specialist.  I have 20 years of sysadmin experience working with Cisco, Windows and Linux and over 2 years as a cyber security professional doing network pentests, web application pentests, auditing and system analysis.
I have 4 years experience as an IT Director for a local government with duties comprised of managing an IT Department with 2 other technicians, maintained the network and security, writing policies and procedures and I reported to an IT Committee every other month.
Served on multiple boards through the North East Michigan Fiber Association and the Merit Advisory Council.

In order for me to hone my cyber security skills, I started to do freelance work on the sides.  Most of my work came from UpWork and from there I have gained consistent clients.  Most of my jobs have been penetration tests but I have done everything from installing SSL certificates and technical writing to doing compliance assessments such as PCI and FedRamp.

I first was introduced to the company back last summer in 2018 when they contracted me to do a pentest for one of their clients.  Since then I have helped them expand their security realms with their clients by offering penetration testing and incident response.  I work with clients on helping them become more secure in their networks and give guidance on how to stay secure in the future.

As the IT Director my duties were to maintain and administer the network and it’s endpoints.  I oversaw all technology operations and gave recommendations to the boards on what the county needed to maintain a healthy working environment.  Devised policies such as Incident Response, Computer Usage and many other Information Security Policies. Worked with other departments to make sure all needs were met and that all technology issues were re-mediated. Managed the IT budget and paid all bills and invoiced any clients the county had that were technology based.  Monitored the network for cyber security threats with SIEM software and patched any devices and end points.  Worked with the Michigan State Police and maintained CJIS compliance for law enforcement agency’s.

IT Consultant – Chowen and Associates

I was hired to work for one of our clients Hillman Community Schools. I was there 4 days a week during the school year. Since I have been at Hillman schools I have implemented new computers, removed hubs and added in new switches to improve network stability and bandwidth. I helped implement and setup a new SIS for the school called PowerSchool. Setup and installed software for the new smart boards. Created and redid the school webpage and oversaw 200 some computers.
